Latinos & HIV/AIDS: Working with Communities of Faith

Latino Religious Project - New York, NY
The Latino Religious Leadership Project provides HIV prevention education to Latinos in faith communities in New York City. There are 26 communities of faith directly engaged in the program, reaching over 3,000 congregants. Member churches and communities of faith provide HIV prevention/health education workshops on a monthly basis, participate in citywide and borough-wide conferences and forums on AIDS issues, distribute HIV prevention literature, arrange for HIV testing and other health screening activities (such as blood-pressure exams, diabetes screenings, etc.) on site at church locations in conjunction with local health institutions.
